We deliver structured, small-group creative programmes designed specifically for students who may:
- struggle with verbal communication
- experience autism, ADHD, or emotional regulation challenges
- find traditional classroom approaches overwhelming
- benefit from low-pressure, alternative ways to express themselves
Our work focuses on:
- identity and sense of self
- creative expression without performance pressure
- building confidence through achievable success
- supporting communication in verbal and non-verbal ways
Programme format:
Our core offer is a 3-day Story Lab course, which allows students time to feel safe, build ideas, and engage meaningfully. In this they will either make a short film (3-6 mins approximately) or a music video. Music videos might have any combination of performance and/or narrative elements. Potential filming locations will be agreed with the school prior to any scriptwriting or planning, and may include the school grounds, the locale around the school, or other community spaces that we can get permission to film within.
The format for the 3-day intensive is as follows:
- Day 1: basic film theory, storytelling, identity, character, and idea development/scriptwriting
- Day 2: filming and collaborative creation
- Day 3: filming and collaborative creation
Day 1 is facilitated by myself. On shoot days I will then be joined by a cinematographer and sound engineer to ensure that the students get real on-set experience, and produce a film they are really proud of. There is also the option to have additional personnel such as make-up artists or experienced actors if required, subject to availability and budget.
We can also offer an alternative format of shorter weekly sessions (4 x 2 or 8 x 1 hourly sessions, run by me) alongside two filming days. Both approaches are adapted to the specific needs of each group.
Our approach:
Our delivery is:
- trauma-informed
- neurodiversity-aware
- low-pressure and flexible
- focused on participation rather than performance
Students are never required to take part in ways that feel uncomfortable — engagement is always supported and optional.
Costs are in the region of £3,000-£4,000 depending on the project. Group sizes are 8 maximum to ensure the best on set experience for everyone. We can also offer the programme in different settings (for example neurodiverse students who are struggling in mainstream school) or teenagers in care settings.
